Biography:

Courteney Cox was born in Birmingham, Alabama on June 15th, 1964. She is the youngest of four children born to Richard, a contractor, and mother (also named) Courteney, a homemaker. When Cox was ten her parents divorced after 19 years of marriage. Cox and her siblings stayed with their mother. Cox and her mother had and still have a typical mother-daughter relationship, but Cox was much closer to her father, whom she absolutely adored. Her childhood fantasy was to see her parents reunite and for things to be the way they were, however, both parents eventually remarried.
She attended Mountain Brook High, in Birmingham, where she made terrific grades and was a hard working student. Classmates later said that she was very quiet in classes and really just blended in. When she did talk, she was often yelled at for speaking too fast. Because of her shyness around the other students, she signed up for an education/work session that allowed her to take all her regular classes until noon, skip PE, and work at a pool supply store from then on. Cox was extraordinarily independent and even saved enough money to purchase her own car at 16. Extracurricular activities that she enjoyed were tennis and swimming. She also tried out for cheerleading, just to see if she could make it. When she did, she immediatly quit so that she could spend the summer with her beloved father in Florida. She graduated high school in 1982 and studied architecture at Mt. Vernon College in Washington.Near the end of her 1st and last year at college, Cox had an ambition to become a professional actress. She found work in ads for Noxema and Maybelline and had a small role on the soap opera "As the World Turns." She was also infamously the first woman to say the word "period" on TV and mean it in "that way" for a Tampax commercial.
Her career was advancing, but it wasn't until 1984 that Cox received national attention. It was in the Bruce Springsteen video "Dancing in the Dark" as the girl Springsteen pulled on stage to dance with at the end. The job paid , but the exposure was enough to launch her into other work in show biz.
In 1985, Cox was cast as Lauren, Michel J. Fox's girlfriend on "Family Ties." Unfortunately the end of the series brought her career to a stand still as well. She continued to work steadily but the roles went virtually unnoticed. In 1994 things started to change for the raven haired beauty. She was cast in the hilarious comedy "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" with Jim Carrey. Soon after she landed the part of Monica Geller on the mega-hit TV series "Friends."She has gone on to have great success with the popular horror flicks "Scream","Scream 2", and "Scream 3".
Not only was the movie a great success it is where she met David Arquette. The couple married 1n 1999. In 2001, Cox unfortuanately lost her beloved father to cancer, but at the same time found out she was pregnant. When she suddenly developed severe stomach pains, she was rushed to a hospital, only to discover that she had miscarried. Though Cox was devestated, she had the support of her husband and her cast on 'Friends' to help her through the tough time, her closest friend, Jennifer Aniston, was especially supportive. In October of 2003, Courteney announced her pregnancy and gave birth to daughter Coco Riley Arquette, on June 13, 2004. Court is currently 40.
